MEET SUSIE Carter
Founder of Stronghold Counselling, Langley BC
My passion for working with children began back in 2011 when I accepted a job as a princess performer for a local party entertainment company. I loved getting to be with families as they celebrated one of their beloved kids. As I furthered in my educational career and left the birthday party industry, my love for spending time with “the small humans” (as I call them) never went away.
Fast forward to my masters degree and I knew I had found my calling the first time I got to colour with an 8 year old girl and talk about how the kids at school were picking on her. Watching our work together change her from a quiet and timid child to a confident and happy kid was one the most rewarding experiences of my training and It solidified my resolve to provide mental health services to children, youth and emerging adults. These are such crucial periods in human development, and if we can find a therapeutic connection, we can correct courses that leave so many adults stuck in their later years.
That is why I am here and I hope that you feel brave enough to take that first step into your healing journey with me.
I promise that here, you have found your Stronghold.
MEET NANCY Arshak
Counsellor at Stronghold Counselling, Langley BC
My interest in counselling began early in life. As a child, I was placed in counselling at a time when I deeply needed support but was unable to express myself. When the therapeutic relationship ended because I could not yet find my voice, it left a lasting impression on me. That experience shaped my commitment to becoming a counsellor who remains patient, attuned, and empathetic, particularly with children and youth who may struggle to communicate their needs.
Prior to pursuing my master’s degree, I worked at a Kids Crisis Line, where I witnessed firsthand the significant need for accessible and compassionate support for children, youth, and families. I have since worked at a Children’s Hospital on the children and youth unit, supporting young people and their families in complex and often vulnerable circumstances. My professional experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of creating a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental space for healing.
I am honoured to be at Stronghold Counselling as a therapist working with children, youth, and young adults. I am deeply committed to providing a supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether you are finding it hard to speak or simply need a safe place to begin, I would be honoured to walk alongside you in your journey.
